Thunder in the Valley – June 22, 2012

A group of 9 bikes and 14 people got a late start to Johnstown’s Thunder in the Valley on Friday June 22, 2012 when we woke up to some showers. We met at Sheetz (465/11) and waited it out for about 45 minutes. Glad we did because the rain stopped and the day was gorgeous, no more rain. Our first stop was for a stretch/gas break in Breezewood, then straight to Johnstown where we parked by the welcome tent, got a map and walked around town enjoying the food, sites and music. We departed and had a great and uneventful ride home and were back in Carlisle by 530. Not bad for getting a late start. We will definitely be keeping this on the list for next year. Who knows maybe even make a two day event out of it.

April, 7 2012 – 8th Annual Bunny Run

On Saturday, April 7, 2012 11 Chapter Members and two guests, led by President Mike Rugh made our way to Hummelstown Fire Department to participate in the 8th Annual Bunny Run.  After breakfast, all participants traveled to Hershey Medical Center. From there each club set out to complete separate missions to 14 area hospitals.  Pa Chapter 41 teamed up with the Guardian Knights and the Warrior Brotherhood and set out to Carlisle Regional Hospital to deliver bunnies to the Emergency Department and the Maternity Center.   From there we continued our travels to Chambersburg Hospital, with a very special side mission to help a Korean War Veteran. We were priviledged and honored to help deliver two new chairs and remove their old delapitated couch. The looks on their faces was priceless. Thanks to our neighbors PA15, PA33, Guardian Knights and Warrior Brotherhood for a great benefit ride. We are sure all those Bunnies delivered by the 179 or so riders to about 14 different hospitals will help a child through a rough time. We will be back next year! A special thanks to Stump and Beef and the entire PA Warrior Brotherhood for allowing us to tag along for the day!

On Friday, March 16, 2012 RKMC Pa Chapter 41 members Co-Road Captain Gary Dressler, Co-Road Captain John Quirk and Charter Member Ron Reeder, joined the Guardian Knights MC in escorting Spc. Jon McHenry home to Newport.  Spc. McHenry was injured in a roadside bomb in Afghanistan and has been in the VA Hospital in Richmond, for treatment of a head injury, as well as various other injuries.  The group surprised Jon by meeting him at Rt. 15 and Rt. 30 near Gettysburg.  His vehicle was surrounded by bikes for the rest of the trip home to Newport.  Once in Newport we were escorted by the local police department and were greeted by the whole town standing along the road clapping, cheering and waving their flags.  It was truly the best ride any of us had ever been a part of!!
